GIVE A MAN A FISH AND HE EATS FOR ONE DAY…TEACH A MAN TO RAISE FISH AND THE WHOLE COMMUNITY EATS!
EDUCATION: Morning Star Fishermen is proud of its eleven years in, educating individuals, students, interns, and whole communities, both nationally and internationally, concerning the unique techniques and systems we have developed in Aquaculture Hydroponics, Organic Gardening (by building a balanced natural backyard ecosystem) providing people the means to put good organically grown … protein, fruits, and vegetables on the table.
Students can acquire, education and hands on experience at our facility. Accommodations for up to sixteen student exists with plans for expansion. Individuals and families can also have accommodations for their tents or campers all at a reasonable fee.
RESEARCH: Currently ongoing projects are being conducted on how to “build a better fish” through the study of species, food, temperature, and water quality by our research staff, Interns and volunteers.
OUTREACH: M.S.F has created facilities in other countries multiplying our efforts to fight hunger. We also will be addressing the needs at our own back door by providing fish to other organizations valuable protein, fruits, and vegetables.
CONSERVATION: We have 11 acres of natural flora and fauna available as an educational nature exhibit tied into a fitness trail. However; Aquaculture takes the pressure off of over fishing the world oceans and habitat destruction.
SPECIAL NEEDS: Children and Adults that are physically and mentally challenged can participate at the facility as anyone else can with modifications to programs and facilities. This improves their learning curve, self esteem, and overall wellness.
HEALTH AND FITNESS: The increased numbers of Children and Adults that need a health living program will learn nutrition and fitness due to our unique parternerships with Organization For Health And Fitness Inc. (non-profit) and other professional and organizations in the field.
Childhood diabetes and obesity is of great concern and can only be dealt with through the provision of programs for children and their parents in order to turn the tide to improve the quality of live and reduced medical expenses.
RECREATION: Our 11 acre facility has plenty of room to accommodate RV, trailers and tents. Surrounding communities are full of opportunities.
